On Thursday, July 22nd, King Farm Neighbors Village was treated to a very informative presentation by Dr. Lauren Hubbard on using native plants in landscaping. Dr. Hubbard explained reasons for using native plants and showed lovely pictures and videos of how native plants are being used in landscapes in our area. Finally, Dr. Hubbard offered resources pertaining to native plants. Please see the list of resources below.
The Muddy Branch Alliance website (https://muddybranch.org/get-involved/lands-green-water-clean/#more-583). She runs their outreach programs and has developed a webpage with a collection of resources. We are hosting a native meadow tour in August. Registration for that event is here: https://forms.gle/tiFsZTyjVUuyQJhD9
Lauren also runs outreach programming for Urban Ecosystem Restorations. She is offering a virtual Q&A on gardening with natives, and we will have an in-person rain barrel workshop. Registration for those events is here:https://forms.gle/g6ubmU6wsZg8SeZh8
Both of these organizations will be hosting other events in the near future. If people are interested in participating, I encourage them to follow these organizations on Facebook and/or sign up for their newsletters:
